My First Magazine Photoshoot -- HOOT!

4:48:00 PM

Hello everyone! Today's post is very exciting because I finally get to share an amazing project I have been a part of for a while now. This past Tuesday Hoot Magazine released their Fall/Winter issue for 2017. I was very lucky to get the opportunity to plan and direct a spread in the issue (pictured below). Along with a talented group of people, we were able to bring to life a very beautiful vision. The name of our spread was "flor palida," which translates to pale flower in english. We centered our concept around all white clothing paired with cool toned flowers and makeup to give off the cold vibes of the season.

For the shoot, my roles were makeup artist, stylist, and director. For the two models' makeup I wanted to do very bold looks to contrast the all white clothing. I chose to do silver toned shimmers and purple/blue complimentary shades. I really wanted our models to look as glowy and goddess-like as possible in the photos, so I made sure to use some of my favorite "icy" highlights. I used several palettes to bring their looks to life including, the Jaclyn Hill x Morphe Palette, Modern Renaissance Palette, Nicole Guerriero Glow Kit, and the Sweet Peach Palette.

It was a very fun experience to get a taste of what executing a photoshoot for a magazine is like. While there is a lot of work that goes into the final product, seeing our vision come to life on the pages made it all worth it. The two designers we pulled from were: Alexis Ifill (a friend of mine who makes incredible pieces) and Doriane van Overeem (a Belgium brand who generously sent us pieces to use). The models looked stunning in the clothing and the all white contrasted beautifully with the flowers we chose.

I really just wanted to take this post to share with all of you a project I am very much proud of. And to also say thanks to everyone who helped make it possible, especially the board of Hoot Magazine, our models, and our lovely photographer. Getting to touch into my creativity when it came to styling was so much fun and I can't wait for many more projects to come.
