New York City During the Holidays!

Tis' the season every body! I must say snow during the holidays in New York City has got to be one of the most magical things I have ever experienced. As most of you probably know by now, on Saturday we had the first snow fall of the season. My inner Californian was in full display that day as I woke up extra early so I could go out and experience the snow in the city. Let me just say, despite the cold, it did not disappoint. That morning it was like waking up in a brand new, magical place. Everywhere you looked was beyond beautiful.

I really tried to capture as many photos as possible to be able to share at least part of the wonder with all of you. If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend you bundle up and visit New York during this time of year. For once, I really do lack the words to describe how beautiful it is. The day before the snowfall I decided to experience the typical New York holiday season by walking along 5th Avenue to see all of the beautiful decorations and displays.

Those of you who know me well know that the holiday season is my absolute favorite time of year, so it won't come as a surprise to you that I stood for almost half an hour just staring in awe at the window displays at Saks Fifth Avenue. My photos don't do the lights or details justice but just take my word for it, it is beyond beautiful!

The light displays you see on every corner are stunning. One of my favorite things I came across, however, were the holiday markets (pictured above on the left) at Bryant Park and Central Park. They consist of several small huts decorated with lights that sell everything from ornaments to jewelry to hot chocolate. Even if you don't buy anything, just walking through the markets makes you feel warm and cozy.

Last but not least, you can't miss a visit to the Rockefeller center. The ice skating rink is always packed but if you get there early enough you can have an incredible experience. The tree is giant and so beautiful to look at, not to mention all of the gorgeous decorations all around. You are likely to encounter crazy amounts of tourists while there, but I definitely think it's worth it. I really am so grateful to get to spend at least part of the holiday season here to soak in all of the magic this city has to offer.
