HTML tags provide the basis for designing web pages. To provide more flexibility to design HTML, attributes are defined for tags HTML to modify the behavior of any particular HTML Tag. There are many cases, while designing a web page when you want to change the default behavior label. For example, you may want to change the background color of the entire page or a section of the page. You may want to change the alignment of a section text or apply a style unique to the representation of a label. There are many cases when you want to identify an HTML tag, giving a name to identify a way that can refer to other locations. Some labels, like that used to present an image ( ) Do not do anything without at least one attribute defined. In the case of the label image, you should have an attribute that tells the browser to find the image to be displayed.
Some examples of attributes HTML
Using bgcolor and background with the body tag
A very visible example the effect of an attribute used in an HTML tag is changing color background or the image of the entire body of a webpage. Browsers understand that the contents of the tag is displayed in the main part of the website. By default, the information used by browsers when they encounter the label is white. If you want a background color other than white, you must use the bgcolor attribute. The following changes code:
This example assumes covering the bottom of your web page, the browser will repeat the image vertically and horizontally to fill the background.
Links with the anchor tag
The basic tool hinges World Wide Web in its ability to link documents, providing users with web a fast connection from one page to another related page. Linking documents in HTML is done using the anchor () tags. The anchor tag itself it do not tell the browser where to link. Instead, you must include the href attribute as in the following example:
Visit our sponsor
This snippet HTML tells the browser that the text "Visit our sponsor" is the anchor text for a link. When the user clicks the anchor text, which is taken to the oursponsorswebsite.com URL.
Displaying a picture using the image tag
HTML pages would be very boring without the use of images. The need to tell the browser where to find tag alone would not suffice. The label attribute of the image "src" has an obligation to tell the browser where to find the image to be displayed, as in the following example:
This block of code tells the browser to place an image in the document. The browser is instructed to obtain the image logo.gif of the images folder in the top-level folder for the document. You'll also notice a width attribute defined on the label. This limits the image to be 150 pixels wide. Conveniently, the height of the image is proportionally limited when defining the width attribute.
HTML Attributes Reference
Do not feel you have to memorize all the HTML tags and their corresponding attributes. Instead, it is desirable to access a reference when trying to determine the attributes that can be used with special HTML tags. The official definition for HTML tags and attributes can be found at www.w3.org You can also find other resources for understanding the same information via a search engine to look for "HTML tags" or "HTML attributes"
Beyond HTML attributes
In the mid 1990s, a methodology called Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) was developed for use on web pages to make them more rational. CSS is a standard to define the layout and format of a web page. Many of the attributes that are commonly used HTML tags with CSS turned around before now handled by CSS definitions. For designers not familiar with CSS, or who, for whatever reason, choose to use CSS, HTML attributes that overlap with CSS definitions can still be used to change the behavior of HTML tags. However, to be considered fashionable in the world of web design, we recommend that you learn and use CSS.
